Hong Kong has announced an extension of the validity of multiple-entry visas for nationals of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. The new policy, effective immediately, aims to strengthen Hong Kong’s connections with Southeast Asian countries and promote business and tourism in the region.
Visa Validity Extended from Two to Three Years
Chief Executive John Lee revealed that the new policy will extend the multiple-entry visa validity for travelers from Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar from two years to three years. The decision also benefits Vietnamese nationals, who have already enjoyed easier visa access since 2023.
“The extension reflects our commitment to tightening relations with ASEAN countries,” Lee said, referring to the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. ASEAN includes Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam.

Faster Immigration and Easier Travel
To make travel even more convenient, Hong Kong will offer self-service immigration clearance for visitors from ASEAN countries. Business travelers and others invited to participate in development activities will have access to a dedicated desk for one-stop visa and immigration processing.
In addition, Hong Kong has canceled the requirement for arrival and departure cards, effective immediately, to simplify entry procedures further.
Focus on ASEAN and Middle Eastern Tourists
The visa policy is part of a broader strategy to attract more tourists from ASEAN and Middle Eastern regions. Chief Executive Lee announced that Hong Kong’s Culture, Sports, and Tourism Bureau will soon publish a “Development Blueprint for Hong Kong’s Tourism Industry 2.0.” This initiative will focus on promoting sports, culture, and eco-tourism.
The government also aims to introduce new countryside and coastal travel routes. “We want to develop more tours in areas like Yan Chau Tong to showcase the beauty of our coastline and nature,” Lee explained.
